As part of the OpenStack Technical Committee for the last four years in addition to her role as a Technical Product Manager at Cisco, Anne Gentle has experienced her fair share of these biases. Increasing diversity in the technology industry is something that has gone from discussion to action in recent years. In 1985, 37% of computer science graduates were women. That number has continued to decline over the years, with women now earning only 18% of today’s computer science degrees according to research by the National Center for Education Statistics.
